Aug 2013 - Bynoe Darwin - Dad

Once Dad got the taste of catching barra he was hooked, travelling up to the Top End many times. From the time he arrived to the time he left it was all about fishing.  If he was in Darwin for 6 days then we fished 6 full days.  He could never get enough and it was so great to be able to take him out and show him our backyard.

We would get up each morning, Shaz would make sure we were fed and watered and pack us up with a lunch and snacks for the day ahead.  We would come home at night with tales of great success and much sledging for who caught less than the other.  One day we even had a bet with Shaz  that Dad would get 10 barra in the day otherwise he owed her a bottle of french bubbles.  He ended up with 9 for the day and yep paid up fair and square.

We would always keep at least one barra he caught to eat even if it was a swamp dog but always released the others safely.  I use barb less hooks wherever I can and have always ensured I do not over fish my favourite spots.  They need protecting if we are to have a fishing future.

This was his last trip to Darwin before we moved south.
